What a visit to a Chiropractor offers you

Chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine, as chiropractors offer no drugs or surgical treatments.

Chiropractors promise to relieve the burden of a variety of ailments, including headaches, backaches, sports injuries and mental health problems, through physical manipulation of the spine of individuals who use their service. However, a visit to a chiropractor offers so much more!

This blog was written by Julius Rogers and was published to medicalisland.net on November 10, 2017. The original article can be found here.

The origins of chiropractic care lie in bone setting, an ancient type of folk medicine which occurred all over the world. Witch doctors would attempt to reduce joint dislocations and “re-set” bone fractures through the practice of joint manipulation. From this primitive practice originates the chiropractic clinic as we know it today.

Which Chiropractor is Right for Me?

There are two types of chiropractors you can visit. There are those who follow in the footsteps of the founder D. D. Palmer, who believe the body has the capacity to heal itself naturally, and that joint manipulation enables it to do that. Other chiropractors consider their service a medical treatment and offer manual therapy to alleviate physical symptoms. Both promise a natural treatment for pain.

Properties of Chiropractic Care

The nervous system runs from the spinal cortex to the brain, transmitting information throughout the body. D. D. Palmer described symptoms of spinal dysfunction as subluxations. Chiropractors offer to heal subluxations, to improve the function of the nervous system!

They do this through a process called spinal adjustment. Spinal adjustment is a unique element of the chiropractic profession, and you cannot find it performed by any medical doctors or other health practitioners. Chiropractors push the vertebrae of the spine forcefully to adjust them. Sometimes one can experience joints cracking during the process, but this does not occur always.

Results of Chiropractic Treatment

There are some initial side effects of chiropractic treatment, such as aching and soreness of the treated areas, which it is advised to ice. Despite the pain, chiropractors offer to improve overall health through their treatment!

A visit to a chiropractor will enable a body to find the resources to heal itself naturally, a process that, in a properly functioning body, is only terminated by death. The nervous system shares the body with the immune system and so can be improved through chiropractic treatment. This astonishing service promises to decrease the occurrence of disease and infection.

Other Services Chiropractors Offer

Many Chiropractic Clinics offer more services than the spinal readjustment of chiropractic care. Offering to help with ailments as wide-ranging as constipation to anxiety, insomnia to chronic pain, sciatica to loss of focus, they supply a variety of options for sufferers.

Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback offers to use monitoring technology to measure the output of waves emitted by the brain. They then show the client the emissions of the brain using audio or visual stimuli to show if the brain is at its optimum function.

The practitioner then guides the client to produce better brain emissions.

Sufferers of ADHD, Anxiety, Epilepsy, Depression and more are all offered neurofeedback as a treatment.

CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral therapy takes its name from cranium, the medical word for skull, and sacral, the name for the bone at the bottom of the pelvis.

Very similar in form to chiropractic treatment, craniosacral therapy offers manual manipulation of the bones of the face, skull, neck and pelvis. CranioSacral practitioners promise increased mobility of bones, better blood flow, and most of all, greater mind-body integration. Wow!

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of Chinese traditional medicine. It originated over 2,000 years ago in 100 B.C.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles into the body, to stimulate pressure points and relieve pain. Acupuncture can cause feelings of heaviness, cramping and mild discomfort, but is supposed to cure your pain.

Acupuncturists offer to heal almost any ailment imaginable, and it is recommended you visit one as often as possible to get the best results.

Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a form of alternative medicine, which offers that massages of the muscles, bones and other ligaments increase mind-body integration and improves overall health and well being in sufferers and people of all dispositions.
